The Disease of Excuses - Vanessa Phillips

ree

I’m too tired. Work is busy. The kids have school. I have a headache. I have pain. It’s a medical condition. It’s my anxiety. They don’t listen. I don’t have the money.

If you want to do something, why don’t you just do it? If your answer is any of the above or similar, you either don’t want to do it or don’t have it in you to do it. I don’t know about you but I’m not going out like that! Saying you want to do something: start dieting, start working out, save a marriage, ask someone out, start a business, start saving money, etc. Saying it and doing it are FAR different. Think about yourself. Are you a victim? A person that blames others? An excuse maker? Even if all of those THINGS up there are true, if you really want to do the things you say: DO THEM. Just because you’re busy, broke, have kids, anxiety, and so on, does not validate you not doing what you want to do to better yourself.

Making excuses is weak. Looking for sympathy is weak. Shutting your mind down and your drive down is detrimental to growth. People on “social media” may validate your excuses, but it’s only hurting you. If a doctor gives you a choice of medication or movement, those choices are very telling. To my strong people out there that have pushed forward physically and mentally for example, weight loss surgery, I applaud your effort because that is a hard endurance on your body. People that say, I’m going STOP this behavior (food, drugs, bad relationships) and Im going to make myself go through this to get out - I applaud you. People that can walk away from a relationship and NOT blame others, I applaud you. Parents that say I did what I felt was my best and this is how you are and I love you, good job. I have a million examples but the people I know that can do them, are few.

Either suck it up, push forward and do what you want. Or, understand you will be living a victim mentality and a victim lifestyle and you will NEVER change or improve. ABOVE can help you get there. It’s not fluffy or sugar coated, but the results outweigh that.
